Last Minute Ideas for Halloween Festivities!

Sorry folks- I know I’ve been MIA this month. Grueling writing schedules have kept me away- sadly. But it has given me plenty of time to stock pile the places I’ve tried the last few weeks and I will have new food reviews starting tomorrow! In the meantime…..

Halloween is literally right around the corner and for those of you who weren’t planning on doing anything- you might want to reconsider. Not only is Halloween a really fun and amazing holiday- I love it- but local restaurants here in Buffalo get really creative with the Halloween Holiday. If your a last minute planner, here are some great events being held at some of our local eaters this Halloween:

Osteria 166 on Franklin Street (slowly becoming one of my favorite restaurants…food review soon to follow) is holding Devil’s Night tonight October 30th. According to their facebook page it’s a “good place to come be BAD!!!” The Halloween Party starts at 7pm, Live Dancers and Leon and the Forklifts are the live entertainment for the night, hitting the “stage” at 9:00pm. There will be all kinds of great foods: Grilled Stuffed Squid with brown rice and yellow raisin-stuffed calamari with romesco sauce, Sauteed Veal Sweet Breads over crispy polenta cake with spicy raspberry reduction and prosciutto and fennel frond, Seared Diver Scallop with artichoke hearts and blood orange reduction,Chicken -fried Rabbit and Waffles with crispy, farm-raised rabbit, polenta, asiago and prosciutto waffles, toasted almond honey and balsamic raspberries, Wagyu Beef Meatballs with Bucatini pasta and marinara sauce and much much more. If your looking for a little bit of naughty and a little bit of nice, you should definitely check out this Italian style Halloween bash!

Lenox Grill on North Street in Buffalo is holding their Halloween party and costume contest tonight October 30th at 9pm, with judging to be held at 11pm.  Drink specials and food specials run all night, with Best Costume prize of $100 Gift Card, Runner Up prize $50 Gift Card, and Worst Costume prize $25 Gift Card. Don’t miss the fun.

Hotel @ The Lafayette, 391 Washington Street is holding a “Cocktails in Character” fundraising event tonight October 30th. This very cool, very retro rag time event offers all you literary nuts out there (myself included) an opportunity to dress as your favorite book character. The event will take place from 6:00-8:30pm at Marquis Ballroom @ Hotel Lafayette, which benefits adult and children’s literacy programming in Western New York. Literacy New York Buffalo-Niagara, Inc. (formerly Literacy Volunteers of Buffalo & Erie County and Literacy Volunteers of Niagara County) is host to this event. Live entertainment, carving stations, complimentary desserts from Kup-Kate’s, and a cash bar will make this party a smash hit. Patrons will also be dazzled by countless raffle baskets and silent auction items.

A VIP Reception will be held from 5:30-6:30pm in the Crystal Room. Tickets are $100 and include passed hors d’oeuvres, premium open bar, live entertainment, and tours of the Lafayette Hotel. In addition, Timothy Bohen, author of Against the Grain, will be on hand and each guest will receive a complimentary signed copy. Main Event Tickets are $40 before October 11th and $50 October 12th through the day of the event.

Hotel @ The Lafayette will also play host to the Annual Witch’s Ball tomorrow night October 31st. An evening filled with speculative fiction with anachronistic technology will push one’s imagination and creativity. All guests are invited to create a suggestive and alluring atmosphere filled with masquerade mischief and dark haunted appeal. There will be a prize for the best representation of Steampunk Couture, so be creative and innovative. Musical performances by Disco Duck, 80’s Hair Bank, and Dan Harper and the Magic Show will ensue. Please visit their website for further details.
